PCB connector 950-D-SMD-DS

950-D-SMD-DS WECO Contact is expanding again its SMarTconn SMD program. In addition to the THR version, we just finished to design a PCB connector of the Series 950 for genuine surface mounting: the type 950-D-SMD-DS. This PCB connector with a pitch of 5 mm has large solder pads resulting in a reliable connection with the board. The geometry of the socket permits sufficient space for the solder paste, good heat circulation for a perfect soldering process, as well as an optical view onto the solder joint. High retention forces after the soldering process assure a good adhesion on the circuit board. The design of the connector provides excellent coplanarity with the maximum use of board space. The housing is made of high temperature resistant polyamide and thus ideal to be used in the reflow soldering process with its higher soldering temperatures. Equipped with a wire protection, the 950-D-SMD-DS is fitted for a rated cross-section of 1.5 mm². The PCB connector is available in the lengths of 2 up to 6 poles. Supplied in a box or tube magazine. Packaging as Tape-on-Reel is available on request. SMD becomes being spectacular only in an application with a larger dimension of the components, i.e. starting with a pitch of 5 mm, So, please see again the most important advantages of the surface mount technology (SMT) in a short overview: Efficient production of component groups (maximum assembling output and security) Smaller demand of space with same function due to reciprocal assembling No drillings necessary in PCB. The components can be placed on both sides of the PCB Increased reliability with the automatic assembling. The main source of error is excluded when putting the pins into the PCB holes straight with multipolar elements.
